How to use kinesio tape for horses

Principle of action: physiological regulation is achieved by pulling the skin and fascia

    1.Increase tissue gap: when the stretched tape rebounds, it increases the gap between the skin and subcutaneous tissue, which promotes lymphatic drainage and blood circulation, and relieves swelling.

    2.Enhance proprioception: The tactile and pressure stimulation of the tape on the skin can enhance muscle nerve sensitivity and assist joint stability.

    3.No joint restrictions: the elastic design allows full range of joint movement,which is different from traditional fixed white tape, it is more suitable for the dynamic needs of sports horses

Mainly used in the following scenarios:

    1.Sports protection: before the game, it is taped to high-load areas such as tendons and ligaments to prevent micro-injury accumulation. It can also improve tissue toughness  combined with tendon nutrients.

    2.Injury rehabilitation: it can assist in reducing swelling and relieving pain during acute injury (such as tendinitis); it can also improve fiber alignment and reduce scar tissue during chronic injury. Through supports suspension structure after ligament injury, the horses can reduce the risk of re-injury by 80%.

    3.Neurological function assistance: it can adjust muscle tension imbalance, such as abnormal gait caused by back and waist pain.

How to use

    1.Cleaning the surface: Wipe with alcohol after shaving to ensure that the skin is dry and oil-free.

    2.Tension control: Adjust the stretch rate of the patch according to the target (support/relaxation) (usually 70% tension in the support area and 0% tension in the drainage area).

    3.Directional pasting: Cut the Y/X-shaped patch along the direction of the muscle or lymphatic flow, and avoid the bone protrusion at the base.

However, it can not replace the core treatment of tendon and ligament injuries (such as stem cell therapy or surgery), and is only used as a supplement to physical intervention.
